Letterpress books, 1851-1901.

Letter books of Moore, 1851-1901 and Warner, 1887-1897. The early years show Moore handled both criminal and civil cases but later seemed to deal only with civil cases. Two letters to Lincoln & Herndon and five to Abraham Lincoln. Numerous letters to David Davis and the Illinois Central Railroad Company. Some letters as one to T.L. Dickey in 1858 discuss politics. Some letters to his family. Numerous letters to county sheriffs, county clerks and county land offices. Letters to various prominent names of the time. Letters to his tenants with instructions for dealing with the land, crops and livestock. Warner's books also pertain to his law practice, business dealings, politics and some personal interests.
